On Friday, November 3, an international academic conference on the theme of "518 and Responsibility" will be held at 10 a.m. in Daedong Hall. In the afternoon, under the themes of "Historical Events and Responsibility" and "518 and Social Responsibility," the panelists will discuss 518, Responsibility, and Justice (Park Kyeong-seop, Research Fellow at the 518 International Institute), Jimmy Carter's Human Rights Diplomacy Policy and Its Application to Korea (David Butterworth, Northumbria University), The Ethical Responsibility of Martial Law Forces in the 518 Democratic Movement (Kang Hyeon-jeong, Department of Philosophy, Chonnam National University), and Social Responsibility and 518 through Transitional Justice (Kim Heon-joon, Department of Political Science and Diplomacy, Korea University).

The 518 International Forum has prepared various programs, including archive exhibitions and documentary screenings, to help not only professional researchers but also citizens understand the issue.

From October 31 to November 11, an archive exhibition on '518 and Responsibility' will be held at the exhibition hall on the basement floor of the 518 Memorial Culture Center. The exhibition will feature folk art works that recreate 518 after 518, documents related to 'punishing those responsible,' and contents that recreate the 518 photo exhibitions held in Busan and Gwangju in 1987.
