The May 18 International Research Institute cordially invite you to the conference “May 18, Statics and the Politics of Transition,” co-organized with the Institute for Democracy and Peace Studies at Chosun University.

The conference is designed to shed new light on the May 18th Democratic Movement in the context of the major contemporary thought currents of neo-materialism. We will seek an interdisciplinary approach through presentations and comprehensive discussions in the fields of political philosophy, history, sociology, and culture and arts.

It will be a forum for productive and in-depth discussions on how the May 18th Democratic Movement can be integrated with contemporary humanities and how to maintain its academic and political validity, and ultimately, we hope to lay an important foundation for the establishment and development of May 18 Studies.
